I looked this up on Amazon and read a number reviews. It is not hilarious but has some humorous moments. Miles is used to getting his own way and what he wants is Ekaterin. But she is a recent widow—survivor—of a soul-destroying marriage and is not interested in repeating the experience. He figures out a scheme to see her often while she creates a garden for him. But then, he manages to tell enough people of his interest that everything backfires spectacularly. (He apparently was in covert ops in previous books...?) Meanwhile, his clone brother is having romance and business problems of his own. Throw in interesting political moves, some of her overbearing male relatives, wedding planning for the emperor, and a council meeting that will impact some of Miles’ friends if it all goes wrong, and it is a busy story. The bugs were a bit much. I could follow the story even though I have not read any of the series. The choice of the cover art continues to be a mystery.

Light on sci-fi I respectfully disagree.
Butter bugs. Bland butter used in MRE market.
Bugs eating native plants into fertilizer for Earth based plants.
Genetic engineering on bug to look like house crest funny.
Start up on high tech company.
Sex change by female into male with working sex organs via brother's cell to have kids definition of science fiction.

Miles' civil campaign involves a proposal. As ever, Bujold gives us a delightful comedy of errors all based on matrimonial variations. Her customs and worlds are fully satisfying.

A Civil Campaign is one of my favourite novels. It is near the end of the Vorkosigan books, but you do not need to read the series in order. This book is light on the sci fi, but heavy on the screwball comedy.
