Nice translation of a recent Russian classic.
Sergei Dovlatov was one of the great satirical writers of the Soviet age. (He died young in the 1980s.) This book of connected short stories tells of his life in the Soviet Union before his emigration to the US, using the items in the single suitcase he brought with him for inspiration. Hilarious and heart-breaking.
