Back when science fiction meant fiction about science, and not fantasy/action set in space; most of these stories are about scientists and the process of invention. Highlights are the Campbell story "The Battery of Hate," about how monopoly industrialists will stop at nothing to destroy any technology that's cheaper, more efficient, and (most importantly) that they can't control; "The Council of Drones," by W. K. Sonnemann, where a man mindswaps with a queen bee and marshals the hive against the human beekeepers; and "The Day is Done," by Lester del Rey, which almost too closely foretells William Golding's The Inheritors.
